Sunglasses in winter? Of course!

Share:

We have the false perception that in the winter we don’t need to wear sunglasses. That is simply not true!

Here’s why we should use them:

  1. To protect against UV rays. Even though the days are shorter and the temperatures are colder, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays are still harmful to our eyes. Wearing sunglasses with UV protection helps prevent long-term eye damage, such as cataracts and macular degeneration.
  2. To avoid reflections of UV rays in the snow. In winter, snow can act as a mirror, reflecting sunlight intensely. This can increase UV exposure and cause glare. Polarized sunglasses are especially useful for reducing glare and improving visual clarity in snowy conditions.
  3. To protect against wind and cold. In winter, cold wind can cause dryness and redness in the eyes. Sunglasses act as a physical barrier that protects the eyes from the wind and prevents excessive evaporation of eye moisture.

In the winter, it is essential to wear sunglasses. Although it shines less brightly than in the summer, it is just as harmful.
