An eye examination is covered by OHIP once a year for persons under 20 years old and every 18 months for those 65 years old and over. OHIP also covers a major eye exam once every 12 months for persons aged 20 – 64 who have medical conditions requiring regular eye examinations (Changes to OHIP Coverage for Eye Care Services). If your examination does not fall into the above categories then you will be responsible for payment. Check with your health benefit plan to determine your eligibility for reimbursement.
